Welcome to my blog! I hope you find the inspiration you need to become a triathlete, and if not, at least you'll get to laugh a little about my own quest in trying to become a better triathlete/husband/professional... You get the point. It's a handful!
I am competitive by nature. Lets be honest, what athlete isn't? If the thought of being at the starting line before a race doesn't create thrills, then you probably wouldn't be reading this right now. It is the sort of love-hate relationship you have with racing that makes it so enticing. And this is just what triathlon is all about. Being out of your comfort zone.
I started competing in triathlons back in 2011 and ever since then I've been hooked! I won't lie, the thought of getting in the water with hundreds of strangers swimming and kicking at the same time was daunting. I didn't really know what I was doing. I was wearing a heavy old surfing wetsuit, I road my mountain bike (no clips!), and none of my gear was triathlon specific (aka, no padded shorts!). Everyone looked like a pro to me. However, instead of shying away, this motivated me even more; I had to prove myself. Not by my gear, but my strength.
My greatest focus in the past years has been 70.3 distance races including Ironman 70.3 Puerto Rico, Miami and St. George, as well as Ironman Muskoka. I'm currently preparing for my next 70.3 Ironman in Santa Cruz, California.
I love Triathlons. Every time I am out there, whether training or racing, I feel complete. Triathlon has helped discover my true self, understand my core values and reach new limits. My objective now is to help guide those who want to become triathletes, but feel overwhelmed with the idea. Welcome to my blog! I hope you find everything you need here to get you started in your TRI journey!
